Roofing for loft conversions and dormers

A loft conversion is only as dry as its new roof. We roof loft conversions and dormers for homeowners and builders, from the tiles and the dormer cheeks to the roof windows, valleys and leadwork. A recent job was a loft conversion roof in Bexley in Mini Stonewold tiles.

What we cover on a loft conversion

We work to the builder's programme or yours:

  • Pitched roofs in tiles or natural slate, matched to the house or in a new profile
  • Flat dormer roofs in EPDM or torch-on felt
  • Dormer cheeks tiled, slated or clad
  • Roof windows fitted and flashed
  • Lead valleys, abutments and flashings where the new roof meets the old
  • Fascias, soffits and guttering to finish

Working with your builder

On most conversions the builder does the structure and we do the roof. We agree the dates, keep the house watertight while the roof is open, and hand back a finished, weathered roof ready for the next trade. If you are managing the conversion yourself, we work to your programme in the same way.

Getting the junctions right

The new roof is rarely where loft conversions leak. The junctions are: where a dormer meets the main roof, where new tiles meet old, and around roof windows. We dress lead and fit flashings at every one of them, and photograph them before they are covered.

Do you fit roof windows?

Yes, with the manufacturer's flashing kits, as part of the roof.
