Storm damage repairs and insurance work
Tiles lifted by a gale, a ridge blown off, a flat roof torn, a chimney pot through the roof. We repair the damage properly and give you what your insurer needs to settle the claim.
What we do after a storm
Storm repairs are usually tiles, slates, ridges, verges and flat roof coverings that have lifted or been torn. We replace what has gone, refix what has moved and check the rest of the roof while we are up there, because a gale rarely does damage in just one place.
We do not run an out-of-hours emergency service. Send the form with "water coming in" in the message and we move you up the list for a visit. Until then, do not go on the roof: put buckets under the drips, move what you can, and if a ceiling is bulging with water, keep clear of it.
What your insurer needs from us
A dated photograph of the damage before it is touched, a plain statement of the cause, and a quote scoped line by line rather than one figure for "repair roof". Claims stall on vagueness far more often than on money. We write quotes in that format as standard, so the same document works for you and for the loss adjuster, and we answer the questions they put to us.
- Dated photographs of the damage, taken before any work
- The cause stated plainly
- A quote itemised by repair, not one lump sum
- Completion photographs once the work is done
Storm damage or wear?
Insurers separate the two. A sound tile lifted by a gale is storm damage. Rusted nails that finally let go in a breeze are wear, and an adjuster will say so. We tell you honestly which we think you have before you claim, and where it is a mixture, which is common, we price the storm element separately so you can decide about the rest.
Questions
Can you come out straight away?
We do not run an emergency call-out service, but we reply the same day and a roof with water coming in is moved up the list.
Do you deal with the insurer for me?
We give you the photographs and the itemised quote in the form they expect, and answer their questions. The claim stays yours.
Should I wait for the insurer before you start?
Usually yes for the main repair, and we will photograph everything first so nothing is lost if a temporary fix is needed.
